"Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh." Ephesians 5:31

Holy Matrimony

The Sacrament of Marriage is the spiritual union of a man and a woman, joined together as one flesh. Through the grace of God, the two are united as equals. Just as woman was formed from the side of man—not from his head to rule over him, nor from his feet to be beneath him—man and woman stand side by side in marriage. Their roles may differ, but their dignity is equal. And through this sacred union, blessed by God's grace, new life may be brought into the world.

This sacrament is freely entered into, requiring the loving consent and intention of both parties. In fact, a marriage does not begin with the words or actions of the priest, but with the couple’s own vows. It is when they freely and fully say “I do” that the sacrament is truly conferred and blessed by God.

Marriage Preparation

We ask that all couples preparing for the Sacrament of Matrimony contact Father Brauner through the contact form below and provide a minimum of six months’ notice prior to the ceremony.

In accordance with Church canons, all couples must be properly prepared to understand the nature and responsibilities of this sacrament. This preparation is most commonly fulfilled through pre-Cana programs, which will be supplemented by personal instruction from Father
Brauner  or another priest.

If you wish to complete your pre-Cana preparation with a priest outside of Saint Michael's, please contact Father Brauner  to discuss and confirm your specific circumstances.
